Going camping is fun and exciting, although it takes a lot of effort to plan a successful camping trip. While planning a camping trip, it is important to enjoy and load it with several camping activities that would eliminate the boredom syndrome. Camping is a good way of exploring the beauty of the world without necessarily blowing up your bank account. It is cheaper than staying in hotels, and since the journey to the camp is by road trips, a lot of money is saved on airfares. Some of the best and exciting activities to take on while camping include;
Water Activities
If your camping site is located close to a water body, then there’s no other way to enjoy than getting on a boat ride. Fortunately, most of these campgrounds offer canoeing, kayaking, paddling, and other water-related activities. These outdoor water activities are becoming more popular by the day, and it gets you close to nature in a peaceful environment. Just make sure you don’t make too much noise to disturb the wildlife. Also, never pollute the water body by either throwing dirt or pass out excreta into the stream, river or lake. Another important tip to note here is to know the fishing laws in the state you’re camping in as you don’t want to get in trouble with the local authority.
Campfire Cooking
While camping, ditch the canned and processed foods and try cooking with your own hands. Roast some wild roots together with some fresh herbs or healthy greens. Make sure you go with someone who can identify and differentiate the healthy herbs from the poisonous ones. Also, you could cook, smoke or roast one of the fishes caught during any of the water activities you engage in. Enjoy and devour these fresh meals while camping, as most people don’t get the chance to eat fresh food. It’ll probably be the best meal you’ll ever eat. However, picky eaters could take some burgers and sausages along with them to avoid an upset stomach.
Biking
There is no better way to explore your camping region that getting on a bike ride. Biking allows you to experience a region and soak yourself in the sights and sound of a place. You get immersed in the scents of the area and get to know the surroundings easily. Get your pedaling shoes and head out with your camping mates and head out for biking experience. Depending on the camping location, you could go for mountain biking. If your camping location has no mountains, you could stick to street biking. However, a large chunk of camping grounds offer both activities. Don’t forget to take your safety gadgets like with you like helmets, knee-cap cover and others.
Treasure or Scavenger Hunt
This is the perfect camping activity as it can’t help strengthen your observation powers. The best thing about scavenger hunts is that it’s suitable for all ages as everyone can play this game. No matter the camping location- close to the ocean, in the woods, by the rainforest, or even in the desert or wilderness, a scavenger hunt can always be played. All that needs to be done is a list that would fit the location. No special equipment is even needed; all you need is a pen and pieces of paper, you’re good to go. You may even want to have a prize attached to the group that finds the most items or keep the game non-competitive. The choice is yours!
Geocaching
This unique camping activity is an outdoor activity that campers take part in using a GPS device. To engage in this activity, a GPS device is needed to set a specified number of coordinates. After that, they are led to hidden containers known as caches. Although this game is quite simple, it is indeed an adventurous one. Fortunately, a lot of campsites are located near the mountains or woods, so it’s pretty easy to find a geocache close to these areas.
Asides from these activities listed above, camping can also be enjoyed with family and friends. It makes bonding possible, especially if the camping is done without any gadgets that could distract, except a camera of course. If you’ve never gone camping with your friends and family, it’s high time you did so as it would benefit you all in more ways than one.
